Holiday Times

Well, once again I pull up this blog thing and wonder why it looks so boring compared to my cousins' blog spots. I guess I need to spend some time learning to add photos and stuff to it.

Christmas is close. It's been a good season this year as well as a lousy one. I decided not to send out a Christmas letter this year. It would have been short. "2008 Sucked. Love, Us." It's different without Mom and Dad. I have found this a hard time of the year without them. Not like we are always down in Utah near them, but I miss calling them and knowing we will see them at Christmas time. Dad being Papa Claus. Mom's cooking. And of course, being with them. I guess the moral of this year is, don't miss out on family time while you have it. One never knows when it won't be available.

Our plans for Christmas have been messed up by Mother Nature. We planned to go to Utah for some family Christmas parties this past weekend, only to have our van in the shop for (long overdue) repairs and delayed parts as well as weather we wouldn't have travelled in in the car (Focus's (Foci?) don't do well on slick roads... they are all over the place even at low speeds, and the darn thing came without anti-lock brakes). So, we stayed home and are now snowed in with over a foot of snow. We've shoveled out our long driveway (garage to road, about 35 yards) by hand three times today... tomorrow a guy is coming in at $70.00 an hour to plow the heck out of it... worth it!

We'll have a white, Idaho Christmas. Maybe a Utah New Year if the weather is good.

But regardless of where you spend it, have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful new year! Hopefully 2009 will find me learning to do a better job on this blog. Now if I can add one of our family pictures.....

Oh, the agony of spending money to plow a driveway. Grand total: $20.00.

We should have called a day earlier... actually, several years ago!

Hi Rick! Merry Christmas to you and your family! I love the pictures you have up on your blog. Your girls are beautiful, and you and Susan look exactly the same, really good! I'm sorry 2008 was so rough for you guys. I was sorry to hear about your mom and dad. They were great, I loved the time I was able to spend with your family. Take care and have a fun white Christmas!
