I Love My Job!

During the summer, I've been put in Patrol. Which is fine, since it's why I got into law enforcement anyway. It's been an eventful few weeks. I went to an ambulance assist on a guy who wasn't breathing. I was first on scene, and I went in ready to do CPR. When I did a head tilt to establish an airway, he started breathing again. Which is fine, because I don't much care to do rescue breathing if I don't have to. Anyway, it seems that the guy had 3 fentinol patches on (serious pain meds, my Dad used to use them), which is I guess an overdose. I guess he'll live.

I also went to a suicide. One of our deputies was on scene when the guy pointed a gun at the deputy. He told him to drop the gun and ducked behind his truck and the guy blew his brains out. I got there shortly after that and had to photograph everything.
The other day I had a guy flag me over and tell me that there was a car on a farm access road along the freeway (I-15) that was acting weird. The guy had honked and banged on the windows of the car, but the man in the car wouldn't respond to him. He said that after he drove away, the car left. He gave me the license plate numberS for the car. I ran them. The car was stolen and so was the second plate. I thought I'd go out to where the car had been and see what I could find. When I got there, the car was there. When it saw me, it started backing up, but slid in the grass and dropped into the canal on it's side. I got on it pretty quick, so I knew no one had run anywhere. The driver was out of the car. I could see on the other side of the canal in the tall grass where it looked like he had dragged himself out. I called to him to stand up, but didn't see him. Finally I saw his bald head peek up to see where I was. I told him to show me his hands or I'd shoot him. He leapt to his feet and jumped the fence to the freeway and ran off. He crossed both lanes of the freeway and went into a housing area and was caught a minute later by other officers. Turns out he had a fugitive warrant, a stolen credit card (which makes another lovely felony to add to him), meth, and had stolen a purse in Pocatello, no driver license. I transported him to jail, where he'll be for a while.

I've also had about 30 animal (read 28 cow, 1 horse, 1 moose) calls... I am ready to start my own slaughter business! I'm so sick of stupid cattle. Some burglaries, crashes, and other assorted stuff. Anyway, It's been a fun summer. Wonder what this week will bring?
