And so it goes

Wow, several weeks since I posted. Halloween came and went. We went to the ward Trunk or Treat, which is where all the members of both Groveland wards (or whoever wants to play, which isn't everyone) comes to the church, parks, and the kids go around the lot getting candy from everyone there. Works nicely when you live in the country and it can be 1/4 mile between houses (good for a night of exercise and minimal candy with normal trick-or-treat). Mandi, who is evidently too old for this stuff, went with her friends for the evening (for, we suspect, trick-or-treating). Victoria went to Trunk or Treat as a cat. After we trunkertreated, we went to a few homes around the area for some extra candy. We also went to a carnival at the school where Victoria got more money and Mandi got to be in the spook alley (or was it a kissing booth??).

Since then Susan has had her book fair. Which is when Scholastic sends her about 30 cases of books that they choose and Susan sells them to people to make some money to use in her library. She has a whole week of parent-teacher conferences and other things to sell books. She gets pretty good support, too, so it's a good deal for her. But a lot of extra work for us... we spent the Saturday before it setting up tables and books and everything. Then a couple of extra nights. Then the Saturday (yesterday) after the books fair is spent packing up all the books that didn't sell (what made them think that the 7 different books on obama and his family would sell in Blackfoot, Idaho?). We are going over tonight to finish tearing down the tables so the library will be back to normal for school tomorrow. But all in all, it's fun. Susan has a downs syndrome boy at her school that came up to her and said, "Mrs O, got some money?" She said, "Why do you ask?" He said, "I need some money." "What do you need some money for?" He pointed to a math game that was for sale and said, "Gotta get a game." She told him he'd have to ask his mom and dad for money and he said, "Oh." and walked off. It was kind of funny, since she doesn't usually get a lot of conversation from this kid.

We had snow yesterday morning. It was fun to see. But it has since overstayed its welcome. I'm ready for the 80's (temperatures, not decade) again. Dang, do I sound old?????
